Matcha Base

It is essential to make a matcha paste (base) before making a tea, latte or cocktail in order to extract the flavour of matcha

1 serving – 1 cup (8oz no ice & 12 oz with ice)

Ingredient:
  • • Matcha: 2g
  • • Hot Water: 1 tbsp
  • • Additional (hot or cold) water: ¼ cup
Recipe
  1. 1. Sift the Matcha to remove the lumps.
  2. 2. Add the Matcha into the cup.
  3. 3. Heat the water to 80°C and add 1 tbsp into the cup.
  4. 4. Whisk into a smooth paste (whisk in a zigzag motion)
  5. 5. Add the remaining water (hot or cold)

Now you have a base to many any matcha recipe!

Shop Matcha
Add/Sift 2 scoops of matcha into a bowl
Approximately 1/2 tsp (~1g)
Wet with a little water (~1 Tbsp/0.5fl oz)
Use ~70°C/160°F (not boiling) soft, filtered water
Massage into a smooth paste
Apply gentle pressure to break up clumps
Add ~70ml/2.4fl oz of remaining water
Swirl/Mix until consistent
Whisk to create a frothy layer on top (optional)
